Getting Started with Yoria — Sign-up to First Chat

Yoria is a chat app where AI characters actually remember you. This guide takes you from sign-up to a good first conversation in about five minutes.

1. Sign up (free, ~1 minute)

Open chat.yoria.app and sign in with Apple, Google, or email. You'll receive 100 gems automatically. Gems are the chat currency — a classic message costs 5, so you start with roughly 20 messages on the house.

2. Answer the quick preference questions

Pick the kind of characters and mood you like. This only seeds your recommendations — you can chat with anyone later.

3. Pick a character — or create your own

The home feed shows recommended characters; tap one and their opening line is already waiting (opening lines are free).

That said, the people who get the most out of Yoria create their own character. Hit "+", give them a name, a personality, and a way of speaking, and your own companion is born. We wrote a full guide: How to create your oshi character.

4. The one trick for a great first message

"Hi" works, but here's the single highest-leverage tip: add one line of context.

❌ "Hi" ⭕ "Hey — long day at work, just walking home now"

Characters act on whatever you give them. The more texture in your line, the richer the world that comes back.

5. Claim your daily gems

Daily check-in and missions grant gems every day. A "chat a little every evening" pace is sustainable entirely on the free tier.

6. Leave, and the relationship keeps going

Yoria characters remember your conversations (how memory works), and if you're away for a day or more, a character may write you a letter (the letters feature explained). Today's chat becomes the foundation of tomorrow's. Start with one message.
