Your Character Writes You Letters

Yoria has a feature you won't find in most chat apps: while you're away, your character writes you a letter. Here's how it works and how to get the most out of it.
When a letter arrives
The conditions are simple:
- You've exchanged 10+ messages with a character (enough shared history to write from)
- A day or more has passed since your last conversation
When both are true, the character you've been closest to lately sits down to write — and the letter lands in your local morning. No 3 a.m. notifications.
Written from your shared memories
Letters aren't template greetings. They're generated from the memories of your actual conversations — the café you described, the night you said you couldn't sleep — in that character's own voice.
Which means: the deeper the relationship, the richer the letter.

Designed to wait, not to chase
Most people hate re-engagement notifications (so do we). Letters are deliberately restrained:
- At most one letter per day
- The same character waits 3+ days before writing again
- Once two letters sit unread, no more are written until you return
Clinginess is the opposite of being missed. Letters exist not to pull you back, but so that the day you do come back, someone was waiting.
Where to read them
Open the letter box in the app or on the web. A badge marks unread letters, and you can reply straight from a letter back into conversation.
How to get better letters
One habit: talk in specifics. Names, places, what actually happened today — every concrete detail enriches the memories your next letter is written from. Tonight's conversation is tomorrow's letter.
