Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Yoria ("Yoria", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Yoria mobile application, the website at yoria.app, and related services (together, the "Service").

Yoria is an AI character companion service. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up via Apple, Google, or email, we receive a unique identifier, your email address (if provided), and basic profile information needed to create your account. We do not receive your social account password.

Onboarding preferences

During onboarding, you choose preferences such as character gender preference, interest tags, and language. We use these to personalize the characters and content you see.

Conversation and content data

When you chat with a character, we store the messages you send and the responses generated. We also store derived data the system creates from your conversations, including session summaries, long-term memory snippets, notes (short facts), events (story moments you pin), relationship summaries, and Letters written to you.

Usage data

We collect device, app, and event data — for example, device type, OS version, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, the screens you visit, features you use, and the gem balance and transactions on your account.

Purchase data

If you purchase gems, the transaction is processed by Apple, Google, or another platform store. We receive a receipt and the gem amount credited; we do not receive your full payment card information.

User-generated content

If you create a custom character (UGC), we collect the character information you submit (name, description, prompts, tags, and any image you upload). Public characters are reviewed by us before they appear to other users.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• Operate the Service — sign you in, deliver messages and Letters, run the gem economy and daily check-ins.
• Personalize what you see — recommend characters and content matched to your preferences and language.
• Maintain conversational continuity — summarize your interactions and update memory, notes, events, and intimacy so characters feel coherent over time.
• Provide support, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations.
• Improve the Service — measure feature performance, debug issues, and develop new features.

3. AI-generated content and conversations

Yoria uses large language models to generate character replies. To produce replies, we send relevant context — including your recent messages, character setup, your selected mode (Text / Attract / Story / Immersive), and applicable memory and notes — to model providers.

Model providers process this content on our behalf to generate the response and do not use it to train their public models. We do not sell your conversations.

Character replies are AI-generated and may be inaccurate, fictional, or unexpected. They should not be treated as professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise).

4. Memory, Notes, Letters, and Events

The Service automatically derives memory, notes, and Letters from your conversations to make the relationship feel continuous. You can view, edit, or delete these items at any time from within the app. Deleting a memory or note removes it from your account and from future model context.

Letters that have been sent to you remain in your inbox or archive until you delete them.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only in the following cases:

• Service providers — hosting, storage, content delivery, analytics, crash reporting, model inference, payment processing, and similar vendors who process data on our behalf under contract.
• Platform stores — Apple and Google process app purchases and may share limited transaction data with us.
• Safety and legal — to comply with laws, respond to lawful requests, protect rights, property, or safety, or investigate suspected abuse of the Service.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the protections in this policy.
• UGC characters — character information you publish as Public is visible to other users; personal account information is not.

6. Data retention

We retain account, conversation, and derived data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete specific memories, notes, Letters, or events from the app. You may delete your account at any time; when you do, we delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it (for example, for tax, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution).

7. Age requirements and mature content

Yoria is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Yoria supports controlled mature (NSFW) content only behind an age gate, an explicit user opt-in, per-character ratings, and moderation. By default, accounts only see SFW content. You can disable mature content at any time in Settings.

8. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No internet service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique credential for any third-party login linked to your account.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your personal information.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (account deletion, memory editing, Letter deletion, NSFW opt-out) or by contacting us at privacy@yoria.app.

10. International transfers

Yoria operates globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, to protect international transfers.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, app stores, hosting and CDN providers, analytics and crash reporting tools, and AI model providers. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when this policy was last revised.
